Roads Blockade - All Time Major Problem in Manipur.

Satisfaction is a rare case. Even if you are rich, your satisfaction to anything is few. You may have a good thinking of your own, I may have a good thinking of my own. We are happy if it becomes matched or negotiable. We have our own home, whether in a nice place or in street. Some wants rich, some wants fame, some wants mainland, some wants peace, some wants war and vice versa. These some are animals called human which has the best brain among all animals on earth. There are continents, countries and states in this earth. So, we have a nice country called India and a beautiful small state called Manipur located in the Northeast India ( For those who are not aware of the state ). The state has nature scenic. The state is known for her culture, arts and sports. She has produced many great sportsperson. Few names are Dingko, Kunjarani, Mary Kom ( A bollywood movie has recently released based on her story ), Sarita, so on and still counting. The state covers an area of 22,327sq.km. She has 2 main NHs i.e. NH 39 and NH 53. NH 39 is block most of the time and NH 53 is block ( almost ) unconditionally. Negligence by government to NH 53 might be high. The state has no train connectivity as of now (construction undergoing). People in this state are simple, honest and friendly. The major communities are Meetei, Kuki, Naga, Meitei Pangal, Gorkhali and Bishnupriya Manipuri. Maximum meiteis and Meitei pangal stays in the valley and maximum of others in the hills. All these have a long groovy history relation with each. As time changes, things changes. It happens!

Around 20 active insurgent ( freedom fighters ) groups and many organisations (still counting..) in the state herself. Thousands of history gone, thousands of incident occurred. Histories are frequent! Innocent people are suffering everyday (likely). On the one side, there is government and the other side, corruption (everywhere). Legendary, Mrs. Irom Sharmila fighting against the Armed Forces ( Special Powers) Act, 1958 since 2nd November 2000. Her ideology is towards peace. Many supports her. She is fighting for the people and for her motherland. I salute her!!! What about the other groups? Called themselves people's organisations!!! What these groups are doing to get their demands? Demands are for the people, for the needy one, for the group or for the state!!! There is only a way to get those demands! What? Ban and Blockade! Simply it's easy to pronounce and remember. But what and how it affect millions of people?

So, here come the upshots of Ban-Blockade:

  • Disturb the day to day commute of people
  • Affects the normal life of the people mainly to the poor ( those depend on day to day earning )
  • Loss of public or private properties (if violent).
  • Price rise unacceptably / Famine - Retailers are taking chance on this by selling goods at high price. So, many time are right times for them.
  • Rate of unemployment increases.
  • Disturb to the education. Main reason of letting out students to study outside the state. Throwing money to other states' colleges or schools for fees. This let affect the home state only. Parents just paid but the money goes outside the state. State economy affects.
  • Economy slowdown as it also affects the GDP of the state. This point needs a serious concern regards to the economic development of the state. As the state has very low GDP comparing with other states in India.
  • Developments slacken.

Is blockade a legal? If no, doesn't government need to implement a conditional law as it scathes millions of people? It's time for government to pick up the proper solution for this. Government should keep an eye on this. Don't organizations or groups have any finagle?

Here are some suggestions to organisations to accomplish demands;

  • Call a formal meeting with organisations and government official representatives. Express views on the agenda. It's the right time to do sensible negotiation.
  • Sit in protest/fast/hunger strike can do at a popular or organized place. Non-violent protests in which a person sits and refuses to leave.
  • Marching - Walk from one place to another with signs.
  • Boycott - Refusal to certain things.
  • Legal Action - Fight an issue legally in court.
  • Strike - Refuse to go on the job.
  • Peace camps/ Picketing -  When a group, usually made up of employees who are on strike, stands outside a business and hold signs in protest.
  • Demonstration - A kind of display, a public display of group feelings ( usually of a political nature).
  • Petition - A document request addressed to the government officials and signed by numerous individuals.
  • Letters to the opposition party ( Government ).
The situation is from many years. Here the questions are, Why the government is silent yet? Why organisations/groups preferred blockade only? Do government/organisations/groups really care for the normal people?
